Gratitude: This is a Call to Action

My friends, I do not mean mandatory gratitude or mindless optimism.

I suggest that gratitude is a Call to Action

What are you grateful for today?

Sometimes it is as simple as being grateful for the weather.

The sun is shining, I can do my yard work.

It is raining, I don’t need to feel guilty about staying in to read.

It is snowing, I can to stay in cook, snuggle, and sit by the fire.

It is cloudy, we can go sightseeing all day without fear of the kids getting sunburn.

My gratitude is simple on some days. So simple that I miss the thankfulness of the actual gratitude. I just smile and carry on.

Other days, my gratitude runs deeper and stronger almost bringing me to tears. How did I escape the misery of my former life?

How did I transform from the caterpiller into a butterfly? How can I honor that sense of gratitude in my daily life?

They say a grateful addict will never use.
They say that gratitude is the antidote to unhappiness.

I say gratitude is an action needed everyday to move myself out of the way and allow the blessings of life come to me, not the other way around.

I cannot chase them.
I cannot catch them.
I cannot appreciate them if I don’t yet appreciate what I already have.

What are you grateful for today . . this my call to action.
